Message from the Conference Chair,  Dr. Trisha Craig

Dear Educators:
We are excited to announce the 2018 Pennsylvania ASCD Conference It’s Time to ACT to be held November 18-20th. The 68th Annual Pennsylvania ASCD Conference returns to its origins at the Hershey Lodge in Hershey, PA and will offer opportunities to earn 40 Act 45 hours.

The It’s Time to ACT conference begins November 18th with Pre-Conference Sessions led by two of our internationally renown keynote speakers: Tom Murray, Director of Innovation for Future Ready Schools, a project of the Alliance for Excellent Education, located in Washington, DC, and Margaret Golden, Professor Emerita at Dominican University of California and a facilitator for the Center for Courage and Renewal. We are also pleased to have Dr. Jean Dyszel from the Pennsylvania Department of Education as a keynote presenter who will provide us with some key updates from PDE.

Tom Murray will present a keynote and facilitate a Pre-Conference focusing on Learning Transformed: 8 Keys to Designing Tomorrow's Schools, a discussion on how redesigning the learning experience can fundamentally shift the teaching and learning paradigm to one that is personal, while altering the use of authentic assessments, how technology is leveraged, the spaces in which the learning occurs, the way educators grow professionally, how schools collaborate with the community, and ultimately, the sustainability of the system as a whole.

Margaret Golden will present a keynote and facilitate the Pre-Conference:  Leading Together: Building Relational Trust in Schools. This evidenced-based professional development program offered by the Center for Courage and Renewal is designed to support whole school change initiatives by strengthening shared leadership, positive relationships, and relational trust in the adult community. Leading Together provides an effective set of practices that focus on a missing piece in our efforts to transform schools and improve outcomes for our students.

The 2018 Pennsylvania ASCD Conference will feature 20 one-hour small group sessions led by Pennsylvania educators focusing on topics such as Career Pathways, ESSA Implementation, Community Connections, Building Relationships, Innovation, Whole Child, and much more. Some of the sessions include: Career Pathways: A community collaborating to serve all students; Pardon the Innovation: Adult learning in a digital age; and Parent Involvement: Past challenges and future possibilities in a technology-rich society.

Join us for the 68th Annual Pennsylvania ASCD Conference November 18-20th in Hershey, PA. It is guaranteed to be an enlightening three days of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and self-reflection focusing on how we can provide the best, most appropriate educational experiences for our children.
